Things to do in Baltimore
Baltimore offers its visitors a vast spread of attractions and activities, ranging from the fun to the cultural. These are just a few of the best places to visit in Baltimore.

National Aquarium
This amazing venue completed a $70 million overhaul to create an authentic Australian river gorge. Main attractions include the dolphin show and the state-of-the-art “4D” theatre which not only shows everything in 3D, but also includes special sensory effects such as smells, sprays and other “natural” elements. The aquarium is a great place to spend the day with the kids.
 
Ladew Topiary Gardens
This is a great way to experience nature with a difference. The park offers 15 flower gardens and hundreds of topiary hedges. There is also a nature trail through the woods and the original Ladew manor house complete with furnishings.
 
The Walters Art Museum
This museum is one of the best places on earth to learn about ancient history spanning back almost 6,000 years. The highlights include a complete Egyptian mummy, ancient European sculptures and pieces from some of the greats. Entry is free except for the occasional special exhibits.
 
Baltimore Museum of Art
This museum is one of the top places to see a complete range of modern art. The art ranges from photography to contemporary art and it also holds the largest collection of Matisse artworks outside of France. Its location is very central and requires at least a few hours to really appreciate what it has to offer.
 
The Hippodrome Theatre
This is one of the largest theatres in the world and has recently undergone a multi-million dollar revamp. The theatre has hosted many Broadway musicals and it is a good idea to book well in advance to ensure the best seats. The theatre is also worth a visit on an architectural level.
 
Maryland Science Center
Another great place to take the kids is the Maryland Science Center. The center is made up of three storeys of interactive exhibits. The highlights include the IMAX and the Davis planetarium.
 
Vaccaro's Italian Pastry Shop
Not all attractions in a city need to be big cultural experiences. It is sometimes the lesser-known attractions that can really make a holiday. People come from all over the city to visit this pastry store. It offers some of the best Italian food including sweets and savouries. It is advisable not to visit the store during peak hours if you are in a rush to get somewhere else.
 
Fells Point
Situated near the Inner Harbor, this is one of the quaintest areas in Baltimore. You will see homes dating back to before the American Civil War as well as an array of authentic antique shops. There is also a scattering of restaurants and small pubs where you can stop off for a rest.
 
Harborplace & The Gallery
If you are looking for some fine dining and shopping, you will find it here. These two attractions are connected by a modern skywalk and the amphitheatre has concerts and live entertainment running the whole day.
 
Market Center
This is the best place to find holiday gifts or just to browse around. Offering close to 500 stores which range from the expected to the weird, this marketplace has been in operation since 1782.
